Byron the Elf:...It's time now for another visit with

S.L.: Hello, boys and girls! Today we're going to hear the story I call, "The Centipede's Secret."

(SFX: Music box)

S.L.: Once upon a time, many years ago, a king was walking through the garden outside his palace, and spied a tiny centipede walking along the ground. The king marveled at this tiny animal with so many legs and said, "Oh, centipede, tell me, how do you manage to control so many legs at once?"

And the centipede answered, "Why, it's so simple! I simply place this leg here, and then...uh, no, wait...this leg goes...wait..." And soon the centipede was so confused, that he could not move at all, and fell down on his back.

Each day the king would find another centipede, and ask him the same thing, until soon his garden was full of centipedes lying on their backs and waving their legs. And the king began charging admission to all the other insects, telling them that they were seeing The June Taylor Dancers!

B: Thank you, Story Lady. Be listening next time, boys and girls, when The Story Lady will stuff a pimento in her navel.

(SFX: Music box out.)
