,title>STAN FREBERG HERE - Mother's Day
Satiric radio commentary for the 90s from the man who drained Lake Michigan and filled it with hot chocolate!!! Mother's Day
Stan Freberg here. Yesterday was Mother's Day. I hope all the mothers listening had a nice day. My wife and I went out to brunch with our kids, and it was great to see all the mothers dressed up. A few thoughts, after this. [:60 SPOT BREAK]
Freberg here. Mother's Day was probably started by the Hallmark greeting card company...no doubt they made a bundle yesterday. Ah, well, they sort of force us to remember our mothers and fathers, and other assorted relatives. I'll bet Arceli Keh had a nice Mother's Day.
Who's Arceli Keh? She's the world's oldest mother, who had a baby girl at age 63. The baby, Cynthia--6 lbs., 4 oz. at birth--is healthy and doing fine. There's been a lot of debate about whether or not it's proper to have a baby in your 60s.
I say, "Go for it!" The woman tried to have a baby for 15 years and now, finally, she's a mother. In a few years, Cynthia can buy her mother a Mother's Day Card.
Hope mother and daughter have many happy Mother's Days together.
