Alien Worlds - On The Threshold of The Unknown
"Alien Worlds was developed by Lee Hansen in the fall of 1978 and presented to Watermark as a licensed syndicated dramatic radio series in November 1978. At the time, Hansen was co-producer on several other Watermark programs and Studio Operations Manager for Watermark's recording studios and expansion plans.
Watermark began its radio station syndication line-up for the series in January 1979. The first episode "The Sun Stealers" aired on several hundred radio stations beginning January 7, 1979, sponsored by Peter Paul Cadbury. The entire series was created, produced and directed by Hansen and co-written by Ron Thompson and other writers including J. Michael Strazynski who later went on to Babylon 5. Watermark's Tom Rounds served as executive producer and music director. The series quickly gained popularity and eventually over 500 top rated domestic FM radio stations along with stations in Australia and New Zealand signed-on the Alien Worlds Network. The half-hour programs were broadcast on weekend evenings, with repeat broadcasts on weekday evenings or on alternate weekend days.
Alien Worlds received wide critical acclaim from entertainment critics around the country and wonderful letters from fans. Here are some of the hundreds of brief quotes on the success of the series.
