STAN FREBERG HERE...

A Few Random Frebergian Thoughts (1998 Version)

Stan Freberg here. With the Middle East in the news lately, I hear a lot about the "West Bank." Is that the bank where Yassir Arafat keeps his money - the "West Bank?" [:60 SPOT BREAK]

Freberg here. It turns out a remote Asian village worships the singer, Eddie Fisher! The most popular male name for newborn children in Nepal Village is "Eddie Fisher," pop singer and ex-husband of Liz Taylor. Fisher remains a superstar in that Asian country, according to a Chinese university study, with photos of Fisher on the walls of huts in the most remote areas. Did Eddie send them 8x10 glossies, or did they just cut 'em out of old tabloids?

Speaking of singers, it occured to me that the Pope's name is one half of the Beatles: John Paul. What are the chances of having a Pope someday named "George Ringo"? Hmm, not good. Meanwhile, we have two of the Beatles at least in Pope John Paul.

That's a start.
