Stan Freberg here. Right up until the Starr Report, the "First Hanky-Pankyer" kept redoing his mea culpa...'til he got it RIGHT??? [:60 SPOT BREAK]
Freberg here. After lying under oath about illicit sex in the Oval Office and then denying it to us, the President finally admitted it, then, starting in Moscow, he kept revising his confession again and again.
In fact, the day the Starr Report landed--like an X-rated asteroid--Bill Clinton was in a prayer breakfast trying what must have been apology number 8 or 9, and saying that he'd sinned. He got THAT right.
As a minister's son, I keep wondering if we'll ever again use "The White House" and "morality" in the same sentence. Meanwhile, Clinton keeps taking another stab at his "I'm sorry" speech. In his mind, he must think he's Sammy Sosa or Mark McGwire stepping up to the plate, without realizing he may have already struck out.
