Stan's Book Review: "Real Places"

Stan Freberg here. What American city is the fire hydrant capital of the U.S.? Something you've been dying to find out, I know. After this. [:60 SPOT BREAK]

An interesting list of American cities has been published in a book called "Real Places." For example, what is the sock capital? Fort Payne, Alabama.

What is Dalton, Georgia? The carpet capital. If I go there, I expect to see the town wall-to-wall carpeted. And Albertville, Alabama is the fire hydrant capital. All the dogs there must say, "...hah...too many choices!"

Now I'm thinking about the sock capital again. Maybe all the mates of socks lost by me and my children wren't eaten by our washing machine after all! They just ended up in Fort Payne, Alabama! Maybe we could take all these thousands of mateless socks with us, and have a family reunion of socks! Together again, matched up at last!
