Does Elvis Have A Future?

Stan Freberg here. Does Elvis have a future? You better believe it. He's never had so many fans, so many gimmicks, so manyyy...what's that? He's dead? Details, details... [:60 SPOT BREAK]

Freberg here. When Elvis was alive he'd have a few good old boys and assorted friends, his usual entourage, drop by his home, you know, a handful. But since he died, three quarters of a million people a year walked in and out of Graceland in Memphis.

Seven gift shops sell memorabilia, from T-shirts to a $12,000 Wurlitzer jukebox stocked with 50 Elvis CDs, to a telephone with an Elvis doll on top that dances to "Jailhouse Rock" when it rings.

On the anniversary of his death, 75,000 fans hit Graceland. Considering that Elvis is now a half-a-billion dollar a year industry, dying was indeed a good career move.

Elvis may have left the building, but Elvis, Inc. is alive and well.
