STAN FREBERG HERE...What's Wrong With This Picture?
Stan Freberg here. You may have heard that a mother from Denmark, visiting New York, left her baby in a baby carriage outside a restaurant. She and the father then went inside to have lunch while their baby napped unattended outside. What's wrong with this picture? [:60 SPOT BREAK]
Freberg again. Evidently, there's so little crime in Denmark that everybody leaves their baby outside in their carriage. But in New York's East Village? The cops arrested the parents and put their 14-month old daughter in foster care.
An international incident then ensued as hundreds of outraged Danish people sent pictures to the authorities of baby carriages outside restaurants in Denmark. The thing got straightened out, but I guess these people have never visited New York, or worse, Los Angeles, where I live.
Hah! In 3 minutes in L.A., the baby would have been sold, the carriage wheels ripped off, and the thing the baby was napping in would have ended up in a baby buggy chop shop!
