STAN FREBERG HERE...

Memorial Day Salute

Stan Freberg here. Today is Memorial Day. To most Americans, an excuse to have a 3 day weekend. But it's a little more than that. Be right back. [:60 SPOT BREAK]

Freberg here. Since these commentaries are carried by Armed Forces Radio every day to 151 countries, I'd like to take this Memorial Day to salute American forces everywhere. As a former serviceman, it means a lot to me to know that I'm being beamed to all of you millions of men and women serving us all over the world.

A couple of years ago, AFRS invited me to Frankfurt, Germany to emcee a 50-year celebration of Armed Forces Television and Radio Service. When I stepped to the mike and said "Stan Freberg here..." the audience cheered, so I know you're listening every day.

Memorial Day is for remembering the men and women we lost in the service of their country, but let's also remember the troops that are alive and well, and still protecting us 24 hours a day, all over the world.

God bless you all, from Stan Freberg here.
