Stan Freberg here with a few dumb comments. A former Department of Energy spokesman actually said, "All you have to do to protect yourself against radiation is go down to the bottom of your swimming pool, and hold your breath." And you wondered if our government was in good hands. [:60 SPOT BREAK]
Freberg again. Here's a couple of dumb mistranslations in foreign menus. A restaurant in Japan was looking for the word "vegetarian"; instead, they printed, "...and for those of you who are vegetables, we offer a plate of hot mixed vegetables." And Kentucky Fried Chicken's "Finger-lickin' good," when translated in China, came out, "Makes your fingers fall off!" (In Oriental voice) "Ooooh, stay 'way from that chicken!"
And when a reporter asked Yogi Berra, "Have you made up your mind," Yogi said, "Uh...not that I know of." And when Yogi's wife told him she'd been to see "Doctor Zhivago," he replied, "What's the matter with you now?"
