Freberg here. Vanna White, the attractive letter turner on "Wheel of Fortune," does a lot more than that. Besides smiling almost continuously--a lot of work for her cheek muscles--she claps. For almost everything.
I got to wondering how many claps per show. Well, my friend Merv Griffin, who created the show, has added up Vanna's claps. He claims she puts her hands together 720 times per show.
Hmm. Let's see, that works out to 3600 claps per week, or 14,024 claps per month. Whew!
When she gets home after taping the shows, if her husband ever says "Hey, Vanna! I got us tickets to a Stones concert! I know how you like to clap along with the music," he'd better duck.
