STAN FREBERG HERE...

Cartoon Update: "Amistad," among other things...

Stan Freberg here with a few great cartoons. Stahler of the Cincinatti Post shows two people leaving a theater showing Spielberg's "Amistad." The woman says, "I liked the lawsuit better." Be right back. [:60 SPOT BREAK]

Freberg again. Now that Bill Clinton has a new dog, Mike Smith of the Las Vegas Sun shows Clinton petting the new dog in his lap. Off to one side and neglected sits Socks the cat, who's thinking, "No-good draft-dodging pot smoking dog lover!"

And two from the New Yorker. Robert Weber shows St. Peter greeting someone at the gates of Heaven, but up above the sign says "Birth, Death and Beyond." St. Peter is saying, "Yeah, actually I preferred 'Heaven' too, but then the marketing guys got hold of it."

Finally, Handelsman shows Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus. A man is saying, "Sorry, folks, but your insurance doesn't cover more than one day in the manger."
