John Glenn - A True American Hero

Stan Freberg here. 36 years after being the first man to orbit the Earth, John Glenn, at 77, became the oldest. Be right back. [:60 SPOT BREAK]

Freberg here. John Glenn, astronaut-turned Senator-turned astronaut again, blasted off into space at the age of 77, and whaddya know, he returned safe and sound with his younger crew, who weren't even born the first time he went up.

I say, "Hooray for OLD guys!" Hopefully, this will help do away with our outdated perception of what is "old." Glenn is a true American hero who talked NASA into his 3.6 million mile ride by volunteering for studies on bone and tissue loss, sleep and balance disorders, and changes in blood and the immune system. In other words, he went back into space to help improve the quality of life on Earth.

Who said there were no more heroes?
