Some More Odd Facts

Stan Freberg here with some odd facts about the Chinese, Disney, and Mike Tyson. But first of all, what is the only word in the English language with no true vowels? Answer, when I come back. [:60 SPOT BREAK]

Freberg again. Okay, the only English word with no true vowels is "rhythm"--"r-h-y-t-h-m."

Now, what sports figure earned the most in 1996? Answer: Mike Tyson, at 75 million. And he only worked three days--well, fought three fights. Hmm, 25 mil a day? That's "walking around" money to Bill Gates. 'Course, much of Mike Tyson's 75 million will go toward the upkeep of Don King's hair.

And with much emphasis on China lately--you remember President Clinton met with China's president while in Manila--I was surprised to read that China is upset with, of all people, Disney! The Chinese have warned The Walt Disney Company that unless they drop plans to shoot a multi-million dollar film about the Dali Lama of Tibet--a film Disney doesn't even plan to show in China--they can forget all plans of the "Disnefying" of China. Disney says they plan to go ahead with the film anyhow.

Now I understand a political cartoon by Matt Davies of the Gannett papers. He shows a tiny Mickey Mouse standing out in front of a line of huge Chinese tanks rolling toward him. Hmm. Never pictured Mickey as a political football.
