NEW SAILOR COMPILATION CD!

As first reported by Karsten and Katrin Wagner, the German label Kiosk has just released a new Sailor hits CD, entitled "Girls Girls Girls". These are the tracks:

  1. A Glass Of Champagne
  2. The Girls Of Amsterdam
  3. Let's Go To Town
  4. Girls Girls Girls
  5. Romance
  6. One Drink Too Many
  7. Stiletto Heels
  8. Trouble In Hong Kong
  9. Sailor
  10. Josephine Baker
  11. Stay With Me Now
  12. Cool Breeze
  13. All I Need Is A Girl
  14. The Old Nickelodeon Sound

As you can see, Kiosk didn't put a lot of thought into the cover, which may lead people to believe this is another version of that "phony Sailor" CD that keeps rearing its ugly head. However, this appears to be the genuine article. (Kiosk also has comps by other former Sony artists, such as The Byrds, The Bangles and Donovan, so there's no reason to believe that this is anything but the real stuff.)

and AGAIN!!!

Ahoy! Wanna sign the guestbook?

(Note: Click on highlighted names to read their 1974 bios!)

Originally, SAILOR were: GEORG KAJANUS (Lead vocals, harp, Acoustic & Electric 12-string guitars, charango, keyboards)
PHIL PICKETT (Bass Nickelodeon, keyboards, guitar, piano, Cruz bass, vocals)
HENRY MARSH (Nickelodeon, elec. guitars, accordion, keyboards, marimbas, piano, vocals)
and GRANT SERPELL (Drums, percussion, backing vocals).

For a brief time (1980), the band consisted of Marsh, Pickett, and:
VIRGINIA DAVID (Vocals)
and GAVIN DAVID (Vocals), for two albums, "Dressed For Drowning" (1980) and "TV Land" (rec. 1981, but never released).

In 1996, Georg (who wanted to explore other musical waters) left the band, to be replaced by PETER LINCOLN (lead vocals, electric & 12-string guitars, keyboards and charango). So, the current line-up is: Lincoln, Pickett, Marsh and Serpell. Ta-da!

If you have any chart info from other countries, please let me know about it. Thanks! Oh, and what was the record that kept "Glass Of Champagne" out of the top spot? It was "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. (Which, I guess, is why they call it 'trivia'.)
